![]() Elephant seal surveys will take place from December through March, with occasional surveys happening throughout the rest of the year, spotted owl surveys will take place March through June, and snowy plover surveys will take place primarily March through September, with occasional winter monitoring September through February. Most of the fieldwork will take place in Point Reyes National Seashore, but some of the owl monitoring will take place at Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), Muir Woods (MUWO), and three California state parks. Additionally, there is some public interaction expected during the elephant seal and snowy plover monitoring seasons due to management issues between visitors and those species. This position will be responsible for data collection during the breeding seasons of the three species, data entry, and data review. The Biological Technician will follow established protocols implemented by the NPS Natural Resources Management and Inventory & Monitoring Divisions. The Wildlife Biological Technician will assist NPS wildlife monitoring programs, specifically northern elephant seals, northern spotted owls, and western snowy plovers.
